Sleeeep

Okay, It's been two full insane weeks (Yesterday on my birthday I realized that I had forgotten what free time felt like).
I turned in another version. Wish me luck.
I must now sleep... Gotta leave early tomorrow.

To the Desert

I'm leaving tomorrow, and will be gone for five days. I do not think I will have any internet access during that time.
I don't even know the last time I was away from the internet for so long! XD I'm going to have so many Deviantart messages when I get back... I watch too many artists. It'll take me forever to get through all of their updates.
I'm going to bring my laptop, in the hope that I'll actually get to write some of Evva's story for the first time in 2 weeks... (I'd be happy to write anything that isn't my project).

I'm also trying to get caught up on blog posts for the month. Hence four posts in the past two days. I had to think of fairly quick things to write about, because I'm still trying to get my project turned in before I leave (the same thing I've been spending all of my last 2 weeks on, though I did boycott it for my birthday yesterday. I wasn't going to let it ruin my day).

I'm going to Zion with a group from school. And I think we'll be in Death Valley for a bit too. I've never been there before, so it will be fun to see.
And rather appropriate, considering all the stuff I've been reading about Edward Abbey for my project's literature review.
I don't really know anything about the trip, or who will be on it. There's not much info, oddly. It will be interesting to see how it goes.
I'll let you know when I get home!

Nerdy and Classy Collide

Thought I'd show off one of the presents I got.

Skirt preorders- closing soon!!! by cryptosilver on DeviantArt... ... It's the Espeon one
I told my cousin that this skirt is a blend of the nerdy and the classy.
Which got me thinking.
It would be really awesome to do a bunch of artwork from anime, videogames, and so on, but in a really fancy style like this. We could make clothes and other stuff out of the fabric. So unless you already knew the characters, you wouldn't be able to recognize it as "nerdy stuff." That way all us nerds can have our own inside joke, and be both nerdy and classy at the same time. Heheh.
Only fellow nerds would recognize us.

Into It

When I get into something new, whether it be a book, anime, game, or group, I get very passionate about it.

You can probably tell.
Undertale is the newest.
But there have been many. It seems rather regular for someone to recommend something to me, and I get more excited about it than they are XD
Like when Nick recommended Wicked.

I also get super attached to fictional characters.
Again... you can probably tell. Today my cousin was telling me how the game was made for you to choose whether or not you kill the characters. And I went "No! I will stop you from killing them! And so will Fern!"

~Birthday~

It's my birthday today~
Some family came over, and we ate lots of good food.
I discovered my cousin is also an Undertale fan. So yaay!
Except I'm desperately trying to talk him out of doing the genocide route...
Nooo. Don't do it. TT^TT You're my baby cousin. I can't let you be evil (My baby cousin is now a lot taller than me).

Overcrowded

I've mentioned before that they torn down a racetrack by the traintracks. And for a few years, it was an empty lot.
Instead of a place for people to do stuff. They just left it a big empty lot of dirt and garbage.

The last couple years, when it rained, a really pretty pond would form in a dug-out area. And cattails would row there, and ducks would swim in it.

Not anymore.

Now they're filling the huge massive plot with row upon row of apartment buildings.
Traffic is terrible enough already. During traffic, it can take 45 minutes to reach a place that's 10-15 minutes away.
When these new apartments are filled, I can't even imagine how much worse it will be.
What are the developers thinking? The place is too crowded already. Stop cramming more people in.

Developers don't care about any of this stuff. Not the resulting traffic. Not the cool horse track that used to be here. Not the pretty duck pond that would appear in the winter.
Bleh.

When you don't want to hate someone, but you kind of want to hate them...

Yeah. Grad school is not going great.
Again.
I'm resisting ranting about it.
But I also want to keep some sort of update going on with it, since it is about my writing, and this blog is about writing.
So, the title of this post accurately describes my feelings for the past week (and kind of the past year).
I don't hate anyone, actually. But I hate working with certain people now... yeah.
It's been a reeeaaalllly weird week and a half.

I Wonder if this is Normal

Commission: The Emperor and his fiancee by meomeongungu on DeviantArt ...
...
Gonna start this off with some beautiful art, so I'll be happy when I look at it. It's a commission I couldn't resist ordering. The original is hanging over my bed).
My two favorite characters from Katani's story~
Probably most of you can guess who they are.

Yeah. Yet another bomb my school has dropped on me last week.
I should resist ranting about it. But after all this, I get rather anxious every time I see an email from one of my advisers.
Are graduate projects often like this? Because I've heard a lot of horror stories about them...

After these bombs, I have started burying myself in Undertale art and music. Heheh. It's a good distraction.
It fills me with determination.

Sol

I've had some time to work on Evva's story recently.
And I finally got to introduce my favorite character.
I knew even before I started writing that Sol would be my favorite character in the story (Unlike Lukas, who I only realized was my favorite after my second draft XD ).

As I was writing the first encounter with Sol, I realized that he probably wasn't shining brightly enough (no, I did not originally intend that pun). That's not particularly unusual. First drafts are always pretty lame on many counts.

But it also got me thinking about how to bring out Sol's character. I know I love him, but how do I make other people love him? How do I make him unique, so that he's not just a generic "nice guy"?
What quirks can I give him, which at the same time don't make him seem too quirky?

Since I'm going in to this knowing he's my favorite, it feels like extra pressure.
I'll keep thinking about it. I have plenty of time, since these are the kinds of problems I usually don't start to fix until the second draft.

Saving Sans

So, I don't post much about Fern on the internet. I share pictures of her, in her various forms, but not much of her story.
That's because Fern's story is largely involved in other stories, some of which you have probably heard of. She travels to different realities to help people. Such as X-Men (where she got her start), Lord of the Rings, Rurouni Kenshin, Star Wars, Fullmetal Alchemist, and many many others.
She makes friends, saves people, heals, and makes things run smoother. Some people she takes back to Avalon, to be part of her team . And she also collects various treasures, weapons, plants, and so on.
I have rather detailed notes on her adventures, though it never ends because I keep finding more places that I want her to interfere.
Here's the latest.

Now, in Undertale, if you ever watch the horrible thing that is the Genocide run, Flowey taunts you, whether you are actually doing the killing yourself, or whether you are watching someone else do it.
But the joke's on you, Flowey. You may taunt me for watching someone else do those terrible things, but now I can stop it! Wahahahah!
So, of course, Fern interferes and manages to save some of the characters.
I'll post this here, as the briefest taste of what Fern does (the comic and text go together).

Saving Sans-Undertale by Ferngirl on DeviantArt .........................................................................................................

It's the same girl that stopped you from killing Toriel, Papyrus, and Undyne.
Before she leaves the room, she pauses. Without turning to face you, she begins to speak.

Fern: "Have you noticed it yet? That force dragging you on, making you cause more and more pain? I'm sure there's some part of you that wants to stop. But you keep moving forward. Are you sure it's worth it? Do you really want to let that darkness inside of you have it's way? Because you're nearly at the point where your actions will no longer hurt others. Instead, they will destroy you."

She takes a couple more steps, and then pauses in the doorway.

Fern: "You can always start over and try again."

She walks away, taking Sans with her. You're left alone in the hall.

Fanfic of a Fanfic

A couple days ago. someone asked me if it was okay for them to post their own fanfiction of my Pokemon fanfiction.
Here it is.
It's been so long wince I wrote the beginning of Cara's journey that it's almost a surprise to reread the story. Especially since it is written differently.

I'm glad that people are still reading my fanfics, considering I haven't posted anything in a while.
But maaan, this makes me really want to go back and re-write them. Heheh.
Maybe I'll rewrite the first chapter at least, to make myself feel better.
I should edit the next chapter of my Midna fanfic too. Since the Twilight Princess remake is coming out.

I do miss writing about my Pokemon. Considering I still love them deeply. But I'm still working on drawing them all, so I've not been neglecting them.

And look. She's also been doing fanart too.
TT^TT
Send her love~
